Love it! You can see some of your favorite moments and quotes in comic book / storyboard form! I had seen this in person in softcover, and ended up getting the hardcover on Amazon. The pictures are great quality in my opinion, waaaay better than the comics I grew up with. (I would say the pictures are better than the quality of digital family photos that are printed onto normal printer paper instead of photo paper.) And, yes, it's Special Edition, but I can forgive that, it is probably the only licensing option from the filmmaker at this point. Most of those changes you can just skip. The Greedo scene actually kind of nods to the original IMO, but you can decide for yourself. I think my head would have exploded if they'd had this back in the day. Would absolutely recommend to any Star Wars fan! Got one as a gift for my brother. And I pre-ordered the ESB one. Very, very cool.
I had read the reviews for this book and they were not good except 1 review and I just received mine and everything looks just greatI would recommend this for any star wars avid fan but if the other 2 bad reviews turn you off like I was deciding myself to get this bookits basically a chance you have to take like methe price is not that bad but I would definitely recommend getting the hardcover book like another buyer did
What an absolute disappointment....Cons:1. Picture quality is horrendous. Washed out so much that the pictures are blurry or so dark and gray that you can hardly see the images of our beloved characters in their environments. In other words the pictures look like they were copied from an image that was previously copied from a copy who was previously copied from another copy and over and over. There is no reason for such utter garbage.2. Expensive.Pros:1. hardcover (containing the only nice picture)2. 400 something pages (unfortunately filled with garbage images)
Bought this book because it reminded me of the Photostory novels from the 70’s. This one has the same look and feel. The pictures are a bit underdeveloped a little dark on color. The pictures are from the newer version of A New Hope with the additional footage. Nice addition to my 70’s and 80’s collection of Photonovels.
It's ironic and unfortunate that a book claiming to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the original "Star Wars" doesn't accurately reflect the 1977 film. Instead, readers must again endure all of George Lucas' foolishly unnecessary alterations from 1997 (and beyond). Yet another middle finger to purist fans.
