Very satisfied with my purchase. I was hesitant at first to purchase the book. I was concerned that the content would be difficult to follow. Even as a nurse, I think there are just medical books that are hard to digest. I decided to purchase it needless because it had great reviews. So far, I've been very pleased. Content is succinct, clear and easy to follow. The diagrams help. It's a small book so it doesn't look daunting to read. There are terms that I have had to check for the meaning but overall, content is easy to understand. My book came in time. Very pleased with my purchase.
I am a student in a respiratory therapy program. I bought this book to help me understand pulmonary physiology, and it has been a god-send! It's definitely heavy reading, and fact-dense, but it has been great for helping me understand alveolar ventilation and blood flow to the lung. It looks like it will be helpful in helping me learn about ventilation-perfusion relationships in future classes. I would recommend this to anyone in a respiratory therapy program!Each chapter has a list of learning objectives, which is helpful when you are looking for information on a particular concept, and how it relates to other concepts.I would NOT recommend this for students that are in a basic Anatomy and Physiology course. This book is far too in-depth for that, and would probably just be confusing.
Dr. Levitzky writes a great pulmonary physiology text. It is very clear and easy to understand for a medical student. I've had the opportunity to use both this book (in med school) and the West pulmonary physio book (during my master's program), and I have to say, for my medical education, Levitzky's book is the one I trust. He uses images and explanations from other books (West's included) to create a complete and thorough explanation of pulmonary function. He includes a lot of practice questions that are relavent to the understanding of the physiology and math. He is continually making improvements to his text, as evidenced during comparisons between the different editions. The most important thing about this book, is that the author, Dr. Levitzky, WRITES SOME OF THE PULMONARY PHYSIO QUESTIONS for the USMLE Step 1. If that is not reason enough to get this book and commit it to memory, I don't know what is.
Great resource for PA school. It breaks things down in to easy to digest chapters with review questions at the end. Helped me gain a better understanding of pulmonary physiology. Dr Levitzky knows his pulm phys. The book was recommended by the phys Phd in my PA program who was taught by Levitzky. I recommend it as well
The pulm phys bible imo. Little biased having the wonderful Dr. Levitsky as a lecturer, but the book is an easy read and has given me a very comfortable grounding in pulmonary phys.. Excellent for any phys course and a valuable resource in step prep.
Decent book, not perfect by any means, but definitely can give you a lot, pair it with BRS and youll kill pulm on boards and medical school exams

its a decent review book...most peds pulm fellows use this in conjunction with West
