As a content strategist, I anticipated this book for months before its release and found to be even more helpful and practical than I could have imagined. Sara covers a wide variety of topics and issues related to structured content and how to make it work for your project, including aspects of faceted content filtering, personalized content, related and contextual content, content relationships and functions, and even improving content reuse.I've used selections from Content Everywhere in discussions with our designers, our content creators, and even our developers, and each group has found it tremendously helpful in understanding how to *do* structured content. It's helped us practitioners understand what it will take to actually make structured content *happen*. This book will be our guide as we rebuild our CMS and content infrastructure from the ground up. Sara's voice and writing style makes the book easy to understand and entertaining to read for practitioners at all levels, with practical takeaway for all.If you're trying to figure out how to do content models and create structured content for your organization--or even if you're just trying to figure out how to make your content available for multiple platforms--this is a must-read.
I attended a presentation that Sara gave during Philadelphia's Content Camp 2014. I was impressed with her depth of knowledge. This alone persuaded me to purchase her book. It completely surpassed my high expectations. The voice alone is worth reading: Warm, accessible, no-nonsense. Sara tells you what she thinks is important to know, without pretension, in a voice that jumps off the page and conveys her own discoveries that have helped her get to where she is. The presentation is well-organized and the information is exactly what all who practice content strategy -- or who are working on a project that requires them to interact with content strategists -- will need to know to thrive. Sara's handy little book has found a place beside my desk, and I pick it up when I need a moment to refocus or reconsider the decisions I need to make. This book is highly recommended!
The content of the book is great, but the pages are too skinny and too tall, and the text size and charts are difficult to read. It strangely seems like it was formatted as an ebook and not for print. Five stars for the illustrations, which are wonderful. Too bad I couldn't internalize the material through the pictures alone!
This book does a good job of corralling a vast area I.e. Content and instead of trying to provide answers for every scenario, focuses on frameworks and principles that do the intended job of stimulating the "how can I..." Thoughts that will add value to your work and your business.
This helped me to connect the dots to so many things I have heard developers and IT folks talk about, but never understood as a "content" person. It has also given me a blue print for how to break down our content and start helping it to travel everywhere so we're better prepared to implement the infrastructure.Excellent book, and well worth the read!
I just love how easy is use in practical way all content of this book.I read a lot of books before "Content Everywhere" but it's the best for audit your actual content and work with your new guidelines of content strategic.It's the way to leave to talk about content and put the content in your company processes.
Very thorough. I especially appreciated her explanation of content modelling and the case for thoroughness in collecting requirements. Everyone knows that content is king, but it's nice to have someone explain the ins and outs of thinking about the design decisions that go into make content available everywhere.
If you are working on content for websites, you need this book. It's full of great, practical information.
